A New Group for Photos and Travel Tips

We’re happy to announce a new Facebook group: What’s On in Iceland – Photos and Travel Tips.

Discovering the wonders of Iceland’s nature can be a trip like no other… but travelling in Iceland also presents difficulties not all tourists are equipped for. Winter can be severe, it can be hard to find accommodations in rural Iceland, and perhaps the greatest challenge of all: travelling on a budget!

We hope our community can serve as both a place for recommendations and suggestions on staying safe, and also a place to share pictures, videos, and stories of your adventures in Iceland’s wilderness too! Did you find the coolest little restaurant in the Westfjords? Go on an unforgettable hike? Did your travel plans change last minute, and you need some recommendations? Or maybe you just took the perfect selfie by Geysir? We hope that our community is a fun and helpful place for all of your travel needs in Iceland!

Of course, some basic ground rules:

  • Be respectful and kind. Talk to people like you do face-to-face.
  • No promotions or selling. We’re of course happy if you had a great experience with a certain tour company, restaurant, or travel agency, but this isn’t the place for advertising.
  • Keep the content appropriate for all ages.
  • No hate speech or harassment. Be respectful of other’s identity, including gender, sexual orientation, country of origin, religious background, or otherwise. (This of course also falls under “be kind and respectful.”)

And don’t forget to tag us with #whatsonrvk to be featured!
