Celebrate Halloween in Reykjavík

Halloween is a quite recent addition to the holidays and celebrations in Iceland. But a lack of tradition is no excuse to turn down a good party so the people of Reykjavík are celebrating in their own way. Some of the celebrations are completely inspired by US traditions but for others, the locals have put their own spin on things. So if you’re celebrating Halloween in Reykjavík, check out these events.

 As dusk descends, the grounds of the museum will be cloaked in a supernatural air of mystery; and there in the twilight, you might just catch a glimpse of the ghosts of old times past.

Visit the museum and find out about the fascinating customs of this ancient Celtic tradition, and you never know, you might come across a few lost old spirits wandering around the grounds.

The bravest can knock on doors of spooky old houses with a glowing jack-o-lantern and play trick or treat on the deathly inhabitants. 

Admission is free for guests dressed in creepy costumes. Kids 12 years or younger must be accompanied by an adult. Those who scare easily might want to bring someone to hold on to!

Maybe Looking for a dance party?


Dans&Kúltúr invites you to a Halloween costume dance party at Hard Rock Cafe. Thursday 31.10.19.

Dance shows, dance class, and of course an award for the best costume and the most unique costume.

Salsa, Zumba, Jallabina, Burlesque, Persian Folkdance, Thriller with Javi Valiño and more.
