According to the Global Peace Index’s ranking for corruption in the world, Iceland is the 12th least corrupt country in the world.
Or rather, Icelanders perceive Iceland as the 12th least corrupt country in the world – the study is based on civilian’s self-reported level of corruption.
This is interesting to any Icelander, since one of our favourite topics of discussion is nepotism in government circles. But apparently, since this is mostly covert and speculative, and in any case less ubiquitous than in many other countries, we’re still pretty decently set, apparently.
