An eruption started at 11.14 PM on Wednesday evening, in the Sundhnúkagígar crater series. It is the seventh in the area this year but already subsiding in power noticeably.
There is no imminent danger foreseen for people as a consequence of this eruption, but as before, we recommend following the latest advice on Safetravel.is and news on RÚV and Iceland Review. Iceland remains safe to visit.
