Nightlife in Reykjavík on New Year’s Eve

Traditionally, most Icelanders spend New Year’s Eve at home, watching the annual comedy revue and feasting on good food with family. At midnight, locals bid farewell to the old year by igniting fireworks. While many residents of the Greater Reykjavik area attend house parties after the fireworks, there are still many who prefer spending the night at the bars and clubs in downtown Reykjavík.
