The biggest festival in Reykjavík every year is Culture Night in late August. This year, it takes place on 24 August, with a wide variety of events and activities taking place throughout the day and evening.

A Day Full of Festivities

The festivities kick off in the morning with the Reykjavík Marathon, a popular event that attracts runners from all over the world. Whether you’re a seasoned athlete or a casual jogger, the marathon is a great way to experience the city and its stunning scenery.

Throughout the day, the city transforms into a culture hub. Museums, galleries, and businesses open their doors to the public, offering free admission and special events. The streets come alive with music, dance, and performances, creating a truly electrifying atmosphere.

One of the highlights of Culture Night is the big outdoor concerts that take place in the evening. Renowned Icelandic musicians take to the stage, providing entertainment for all ages. The night culminates in a spectacular fireworks display at 23:00 by the harbour that lights up the sky above the city.
