Choir of Clare College

The Choir of Clare College, Cambridge make their first return visit to Iceland in over 20 years this coming weekend, with a concert at 5pm on Saturday and Sung Mass at 11am on Sunday at Hallgrimskirkja, conducted by Director of Music Graham Ross.  Their concert programme, ‘Magnificat’ includes Lenten choral works by Barber, Howells, Byrd, Ethel Smyth and Anna Thorvaldsdottir, alongside three settings of the Anglican canticles by Kenneth Leighton, Icelandic composer Sigurður Sævarsson, and Estonian composer Arvo Pärt, who celebrates his 85th birthday this year.  The Choir’s latest album, STABAT, featuring works by Arvo Pärt, will be available for sale at the concert.
