Rachmaninov: All-Night Vigil (Vespers) performed by Langholt Church Choir
Are you interested in classical music and/or choir music? Then this is something for you:
Langholt Church Choir performs Rachmaninov’s All-Night Vigil (Vespers), which is one of the greatest and best known works of the Russian Orthodox Church. It was written for an a cappella choir and is a liturgical setting of various biblical texts related to the All-Night Vigil service. The piece is renowned for being very demanding for the choir, especially the basses, which prompted one choir conductor to ask the composer: “Now where on earth are we to find such basses? They are as rare as asparagus at Christmas!”
Join us for our performance of this wonderful music on Saturday, February 1, at 4 pm (16:oo) and please note that this is free concert.
