Stockfish Short Film Competition
March 16 – 20:00 (08:00 PM)
March 20 – 18:00 (06:00 PM)
The Shortfish is the festival’s short film competition. It’s goal is to draw attention to young and aspiring Icelandic filmmakers and provide funding for future projects. The films have to be publicly premiered in the year 2019 or later and have an Icelandic director or producer. Out of submissions, only 6 films are selected to compete for the Shortfish prize.
The winner of the Shortfish will be granted one million ISK in equipment rental from KUKL, the biggest equipment rental in Iceland that specializes in servicing film and TV productions. That way the winner will have access to high-class equipment for their next project. The winning film will be announced at the closing ceremony.
It’s a great honour to announce our jury this year, screenwriter Ottó Geir Borg ( Brim, Brot, Gauragangur ), director Silja Hauksdóttir ( Agnes Joy, Ástríður, Dís ) and film critic, writer and the founder of Ubiquarian, Marina D. Richter.
Around 40 amazing Icelandic short films were submitted this year, but only 6 could be selected. Our selection committee of a broad and wide selection of filmmakers selected the following films to compete for the Shortfish:
BLAND Í POKA / A MIXED BAG – Director Helena Rakel Jóhannesdóttir
BLAÐBERINN / PAPERBOY Director Ninna Pálmadóttir
