We’ll Dance on the Ash of the Apocalypse
“A young couple living in a world ravaged by climate change is faced with a terrifying prospect. An unplanned pregnancy. Together they must decide whether they can bring a defenceless child into a seemingly hopeless world.”
This new original play by Australian playwright Melissa-Kelly Franklin was written as a response to climate change. The play aims to continue the discussion on global warming through love of humanity, hope against the odds and passion to act now to create the future we desire.
Spindrift is directing this virtual production, following our research and development period at Dixon Place in Manhattan which was brought to a stop by the Covid-19 closures. The production at Dixon Place focused heavily on physical theatre and movement choreography, while this socially distanced production is adapted to feel like an intimate Facetime conversation between the young couple.
The production will be followed by a Q&A with the author and directors.
Directors are Sólveig Eva of Spindrift and Anne Windsland of New Winds Production.
Featuring Léerin Campbell as the Young Woman and Chris Nester as the Young Man.
