Ring Road Nr. 1 Closed To The East

In Driving in Iceland, Safety Tips, Uncategorized

Due to the status of the damage in the south-east, road no. 1 will be closed for some time longer from the crossroads east of Þórbergssetur Museum (14 km east of Jökulsárlón) to Höfn.

This is due to the torrential rain taking place in South-East and Eastern Iceland for the past few days. It has left the main road severely damaged, as well as bridges.

The closure is expected to last at least one more week. Those travelling through Iceland can keep up to date on road closures and conditions here.
