Stockfish Film Festival returns to Reykjavík, showcasing the best in arthouse cinema from April 3 – April 13 at Bíó Paradís, with selected events at Hafnar.Haus, Tónlistarmiðstöð (Iceland Music office), and The Nordic House.

Stockfish offers a platform for filmmakers, industry professionals, and cinephiles, featuring award-winning films, masterclasses, panels, and networking opportunities. This year the festival introduces a ‘Pay What You Can’ model for accessibility, along with free events. A special Italian Corner will celebrate Italian cinema, food, and wine.

Highlights of this year’s festival include The Art Life (USA), Rumours (Canada/Germany/Hungary/USA), To a Land Unknown (UK/Palestine/France/Greece/Netherlands/Germany/Qatar/Saudi Arabia), and Luca Guadagnino’s Queer (Italy/USA). The Shortfish competition will spotlight emerging Icelandic filmmakers.

Industry Days & Networking

Stockfish’s Industry Days provide masterclasses, workshops, and discussions featuring BAFTA-nominated director Tina Gharavi, panels on Icelandic cinema, on opportunities and benefits of inclusion and an exploration of David Lynch’s surrealist influence. Special events include the Opening Ceremony & Party, the Women in Film & Television (WIFT) Reception, and the Closing Ceremony with the Eva Maria Daniels Awards.
